Guess the correct duration of any meeting (conference call, web meeting) before the meeting has started.
The player whose guess comes closest to the actual duration of the meeting wins.
Lots of people play computer games during boring conference calls and online meetings. But most online games are distracting, and they don't involve other people in the same meeting. Enduroo is different. It's a social game you play with other people in your meeting. You can play Enduroo during meetings of all kinds - conference calls, video conferences, teleconferences, online meetings and face-to-face meetings. You can play Enduroo during any WebEx, GoToMeeting or other online meeting or web conference.
Enduroo is an online game designed to make meetings a little more interesting and possibly more efficient. But be warned: once you play Enduroo, you may become addicted to meetings. Enduroo takes just seconds to set up and is free to play.
HOW IT WORKS:
Playing Enduroo requires 2 or more meeting participants. You can invite any meeting participant to play, but players should not include the meeting leader or the most senior manager in the meeting who can control the meeting duration. Before the meeting starts, each player enters a "Target Meeting Duration" - your prediction of how long the meeting will take. Players do not see other players' predictions until the meeting ends and the winner is revealed.
A GAME OF SKILL:
The strategy for winning Enduroo is to manipulate the meeting dynamics to make the actual meeting duration match your Target Meeting Duration. Of course, while you are trying to get the meeting to end in (for example) precisely 58 minutes, 11 seconds, your fellow players are trying to end the meeting sooner or later, and therein lies the antics that ensue when you play Enduroo. The most clever Enduroo players will influence the meeting duration to their advantage in the most subtle ways.
JOIN MEETING FRIENDS:
Enduroo was created for people who hate meetings but like their meeting co-workers. You already may be using IM to chat during conference calls. Researchers call it "invisible whispering" - the conversations that happen behind the scenes. You all hate the meetings but really want to perform, to execute, to have some time to actually do your jobs. Those are the co-workers to enlist to play Enduroo.
How Enduroo grows depends on your feedback and support. Here's what we're working on:
Redeem Points -
The points you win at Enduroo should be redeemable for actual goods and services. We'll be working with partners and sponsors to offer a marketplace for you to redeem your Enduroo points.
Play on your phone and through Facebook -
This is our beta website version. Our next releases will be apps for iPhone, Android and Facebook.
We'd like to embed IM into Enduroo for private chats among game players.
To help with any of these initiatives, contact us or share your ideas at our Feedback page.
Tips and tricks for winning Enduroo:
You can use IM or chat with other players during a meeting to form alliances and cooperate with other players to shorten or extend meeting times.
Use verbal cues to get the actual meeting duration as close as possible to your Target Meeting Duration.
Here are simple ways to extend the meeting:
To shorten the meeting duration say things like:
- "Did anyone take a roll call?" [guaranteed to add 2 minutes even if only 3 people are on]
- "Was that just [Joe] talking – could you repeat that [brilliant 5-minute monologue]?"
- "How's the weather over there in [London] today – typical for the season?"
- "Can someone give me an update on what we agreed on the last call?"
- "Sorry guys, I have a hard stop at ..." [do people say "hard stop" anymore?]
- "Could I suggest we table this ...." [just don't say this to your CEO]
- "I'd be glad to answer questions offline..." [preferably over a beer]
